Ranchi witnessed history, as a hockey team from the city, formed to participate in the world’s premiere and richest hockey tournament, “Hockey India League’, launched its team identity, by the Hon’ble Speaker of Jharkhand State, Shri C.P.Singh at an event hosted at the Chanakya BNR premises.
The highlight of the event was the presence of living Olympic Greats, Shri Keshav Dutt, member of the gold winning hockey team of the London Olympics, 1948, 1952 and Shri Gurbux Singh member of the gold winning team of 1964 Rome Olympics, and the bronze winning team of 1968 Mexico Olympics. Both of them wished the tournament and the team a grand success, expressing strong hope, that the league will revive the sport’s popularity in the nation.
Also present in the occasion, were former Olympians from the state, Shri Manohar Topno, Shri Dung Dung, Current Olympian Birendra Lakra and team member as well, State Hockey Officials along with important dignitaries from the state.
Mr. Banti Singh, the team CEO is very upbeat about the prospects of the team. This he added, comes from the team combination, which will be very lethal in the field. He is very sure that Ranchi will become a premiere sporting destination, at the end of the tournament. He sought the blessings of the people from the city and the state for the success of the team.
Team owners Mr. Suresh Chauhan, Mr. Vikram Jain and Mr. Saurav Dugar, too are very positive about the team’s prospects. Their passion for the sport, and the extreme popularity of the game in the state, was the key factor for them to choose the city. They look forward to contributing as much as possible for the development of the sport in the state.
The Rhino in the logo, symbolizes the teams intent to play with full aggression, taking all it’s opponent head on, in the playing arena. “Nas Nas Mein Hockey” underlines the passion to excel in each department of the game.
