New Delhi, 05 January 2015: Playing for Delhi Waveriders for the third time in the Hero Hockey India League, captain of Indian Men Hockey Team and marquee player Sardar Singh is preparing himself for another marvellous performance in the 3rd season of the impending League, which starts from 22nd January 2015.
The 28-year-old Sardar Singh has captained Delhi Waveriders in the preceding seasons of Hero Hockey India League. He led his side to a second place finish in the inaugural edition of the tournament and later steered his team on the road to an improved performance in the next season, finishing on the top to clinch the title. Sardar Singh was also awarded ‘Player of the Tournament’ in the first term of the League. With such great achievements to his name, the very efficient Indian midfielder continues getting superior with each game he plays.
Speaking ahead of the upcoming Hero Hockey India League 2015, Sardar Singh said, “This is my third outing with the Hero HIL and I am keenly waiting for it to begin. With just a few days more than a fortnight left, the preparations are in full swing. Being the defending champions, our prime aim will be to play a good game throughout the League and retain the title”
Remarking on his teammates, he further added, “Playing alongside the talented and experienced players from world over has always been bliss and an opportunity of great learning. I am delighted to have Rupinder Pal Singh, the young Akashdeep, Jason Wilson and Simon Child in the line-up and immensely depend on them to keep up the momentum of the team. Yuvraj Walmiki and Gurwinder Singh Chandi will also be the ones to watch out for.”
The 3rd edition of the Hero Hockey India League will start from 22 January 2015. The opening day of the League will witness Kalinga Lancers taking on Ranchi Rays in Bhubaneswar.
