· Owner Radha Kapoor / Franchise unveils team logo and shares the vision for grass-root development of across Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa

Mumbai, 13 November 2014: In line with the vision to promote sports talent and contribute towards development of sports across the country, DoIT Sports Management (India) Pvt. Ltd., a creative sports entity championing “Rurban” Indian sporting ventures, today unveiled the team name and logo for the Mumbai franchise of the prestigious Hockey India League 2015.
‘Dabang Mumbai’, has been coined keeping in mind the fighting spirit of the Maharashtra region and as a symbol highlighting the uninhibited ambition of the franchise to play for victory. Covering key regions of Maharashtra, Gujarat and Goa, Dabang Mumbai will exemplify unmitigated passion for India’s most participative sport – Hockey. The franchise in its endeavor to support the sport will create a grass-root program that would provide a steady stream of talented youngsters to help make the eight-time Olympic Champions India a force to reckon with in World Hockey once again.
Speaking about the initiative, Radha Kapoor, Director, DoIT Sports Management said, “Dabang Mumbai is the second sports venture of our company after Pro-Kabaddi team Dabang Delhi and we are extremely excited to be part of the world’s most celebrated hockey league. The Mumbai franchise helps us take forward our vision to contribute to the development of sports and groom a steady pool of young, talented players for the Indian National Team. Western India has always had offered great hockey talent and through Dabang Mumbai we hope to tap into that talent and help contribute to Indian hockey’s glorious story.”
DoIT Sports Management has also roped in former India skipper Viren Rasquinha as the Strategic Advisor and Mentor for Dabang Mumbai. The champion player turned administrator will help device a management and player strategy, spearheading all aspects of Dabang Mumbai’s agenda for HIL 2015.
Speaking on the occasion, Viren Rasquinha said, “Mumbai has always been a hub of hockey and we are keen to win the title in our first year. Our approach will be strategic and central to talent management of our team. At the same time, the primary focus of the franchise will be to identify and nurture talent at the grass-root level as part of our, soon to be launched, talent hunt program.”
According to the mandate given to the franchisees by Hockey India, the Mumbai franchise would have Maharashtra, Goa and Gujarat as its catchment area and DoIT Sports Management would be spreading their grass-root development program across the three states and keenly work to identify find talent pool from these states in the coming days.
