New Delhi, 10 January 2015: Veteran midfielder Gurbaj Singh is all set to continue with his spectacular performance in the Hero Hockey India League 2015, aiming at a second consecutive win for his team Delhi Waveriders. Playing for Delhi Waveriders consecutively for the third time, Gurbaj looks all set to give in his best for the team in the upcoming season which starts from 22 January 2015.
In the inaugural session of the Hero Hockey India League, Gurbaj was named the ‘Man of the Match’ where Delhi Waveriders defeated Ranchi Rays 5-2. Continuing his on-field showdown to the second season of the league, the young Indian player took away the ‘Man of the Match’ title twice by displaying a striking performance.
Under the proficient captaincy of Sardar Singh, the player having 186 caps is again looking forward to rub shoulders with one of the best players of the world and grab his share of scoring opportunities. With a promise to play high-quality hockey in the upcoming league, Gurbaj appears much confident to restrict the opponents’ scoring chances.
Excited on playing for Delhi Waveriders successively for the third time, Gurbaj Singh said, “I am aiming to encounter a tough fight in this season of the Hero Hockey India League. The team is fully prepared to face the challenge without building up any pressure. Playing for the Delhi-based franchisee is surely one of the best opportunities as we get to learn a lot and that is what holds significance for us. The league is going to be very challenging as all the teams are equipped with the best players from around the world. With players like Sardar Singh, Akashdeep Singh and Tim Drummond in our team, I endeavour to retain the title this year too.”
The 3rd edition of the Hero Hockey India League will start from 22 January 2015. The opening day of the League will witness Kalinga Lancers taking on Ranchi Rays in Bhubaneswar.
Hero Hockey India League will be telecasted LIVE on Star Sports.
