New Delhi, 12 November 2014: Hero Hockey India League is gearing up for its third edition, and today announced the appointment of Craig Gribble as the Lead Umpires Manager for the tournament. This will be the second time that Craig Gribble will be seen playing the all important role in the tournament.
Speaking on Craig Gribble’s appointment Hero Hockey India League’s CEO, Ms. Elena Norman said, “We welcome back Craig Gribble to the League this year. We are happy that he has agreed to be associated with HHIL yet again this year and his presence will add the much required boost to the Umpires’ line-up in the tournament. We look forward to him getting into his role as the Lead Umpires Manager and having another successful year with us”.
Excited on being associated with the Hero Hockey India League once again, the newly appointed Lead Umpires Manager Craig Gribble said, “I am extremely delighted to be connected to Hero HIL yet again. My first year with the tournament was an excellent experience where I got an opportunity to work with the appointed umpires and officiating board and I am even more excited for my second term with them. The fine combination of India’s home and International players continues to amaze me and I can hardly wait for the event to begin.”
48-year-old Gribble is presently working as the Technical Manager for Hockey New Zealand. He has conducted a number of events over the recent years in this capacity. Craig has also been a part of Commonwealth Games 2010, two Champions Trophy Tournaments in 2011 & 2012, two Olympic Qualification Tournaments in 2012, London Olympic Games in 2012 and FIH World League Semi-finals in Rotterdam 2013.
He has been working as an international Umpires Manager since 2007 after retiring from international umpiring in 2006. He stood in a total of 48 test matches from 1997-2006.
