RR also announces Harendra Singh as Head Coach and Clarence Lobo joins the Coaching staff as an Assistant Coach
Ranchi, January 15, 2015: Ranchi Rays today announced Ashley Jackson as the captain for Hockey India League Season 3. Ashley Jackson is the English player, who also played in the England squad that won Bronze at the 2014 Commonwealth Games. Jackson brings with him a rich experience of having played International hockey.
Ranchi Rays also announced the coaching staff for the team with Harendra Singh as the Head Coach. Clarence Lobo comes on board as Assistant Coach and A B Subbiah will the Goalkeeper Coach.
Speaking on the announcement, Mr. M S Dhoni said, “Going by his experience and present performance, we feel that Ashley Jackson is the right choice for the captain. Under his able leadership, the team will do well and he will make the Ranchi fans proud by putting up a terrific show.” Further he said, “I hope Mr. Harendra Singh, as a coach, will nurture the players and will bring the best of them. You need a right coach who knows the strengths of his players and capitalize on it.”
Ashley Jackson on his selection as a captain said, “It’s a great feeling to be named captain of Ranchi Rays, the Ranchi fans are the best in the league and it will be a real honour to lead our talented team out in front of our home fans. I will be trying my best to lead from the front and alongside some of the best talents in the world this promises to be another exciting HIL in Ranchi. The entire team is very excited and we are ready to give some wonderful performances in the tournament.”
