Lucknow, 03 February 2015: Comfortably resting atop the pool standings, Jaypee Punjab Warriors is keyed up to take on Uttar Pradesh Wizards in the League match of the Hero Hockey India League 2015 at Lucknow tomorrow. Motivated with their victory in the last match played against Uttar Pradesh Wizards with a score of 3-2, Jaypee Punjab Warriors will be eyeing to bag their second consecutive win against the home team and further adding five points to its tally so as to retain its position in the points table.
While the Jaypee Punjab Warriors has had a good run in the League till now, it aspires to keep the momentum running and will even be looking at going to the next level. Coached by Barry Dancer, the team will bring in the best skills of the trade not allowing the opponents to notch up from any of the scoring opportunities. With the unvarying support of Affan Yousuf, SV Sunil and Jake Whetton at the forward line, Jaypee Punjab Warriors will play to snatch away the points from the opponents. Sitting at the apex of the goal scorer’s list, with five goals in the kitty, Sandeep Singh will want to continue his feat and yet again aspires to be the highest goal scorer of the League. Also responsible for the team’s invincible success is Captain Jamie Dwyer leading from the front along with the finest of the goalkeepers Jaap Stockmann who was also awarded with the ‘Man of the Match’ title in the recent clash with Uttar Pradesh Wizards.
On the other side, Coached by Roelant Oltmans, Uttar Pradesh Wizards is aiming to win the match against Punjab Warriors in order to make up for the previous loss. Uttar Pradesh Wizards is presently sitting at second position with 13 points in the League. With a total of five matches that it has played, the Wizards aims to make a mark in the League by surpassing the pool leader and going a step further. With the likes of VR Raghunath, SK Uthappa, Ramandeep Singh, Eddie Ockenden, Jeroen Hertzberger and David Alegre, the Uttar Pradesh outfit will not be in a mood to give in to the visiting team so easily. Furnishing full support to the team, the Indian goalkeeper PR Sreejesh will be at his best while guarding the net for his side. While, VR Raghunath has to his credit of earning three goals and will be the player to look out for in his attempt to stop the opponents from scoring.
