New Delhi, 15 September 2015: The India Men Hockey team gearing up for the upcoming FIH Hockey World League Final 2015, scheduled to take place later in the year, is looking forward to the challenge and training hard at the preparation camp.
On the sidelines of an intense practice session, Sardar Singh spoke on the newly announced regulations for the Hockey India League, which has got every player excited as the rules comes with newer challenges and excitement.
Speaking on the rules, Captain for Indian Men Hockey team, Sardar Singh said, “The new regulations for the upcoming edition will bring in new strategies and make the game more exciting and spectacular. The new regulations will definitely encourage more attacking and skilful hockey. On the other hand, it might slightly put the drag-flickers on a disadvantage as their penalty corner conversions would change the course of the game at any given point. It is a new regulation and all are excited to see the results and let’s see how it is implemented on field and fans reaction on it”.
Speaking on the preparation on the upcoming International tournaments, Sardar added, “Presently, our team is training well under Chief Coach Roelant Oltmans and the preparation is going well for the FIH Hockey World League Final 2015. With the three week goalkeeping camp currently being held under Dave Staniforth strengthening the goalkeeping, it also provides a huge boost to the team”
Speaking on the new regulations, drag-flicker Rupinder Pal Singh said, “The new regulations will undeniably benefit strikers and forward players as their one goal will increase the score-line. This decision will make drag-flickers to concentrate more on field goals rather than penalty corners. Strategies will also be made around field goals and quick penetrations.”
