– Shri Naveen Patnaik, Chief Minister of Odisha, inaugurated the League 

22 January 2015, Bhubaneswar: The Hero Hockey India League 2015 which commenced today, saw the evening kick-start at Bhubaneswar with Ms. Elena Norman, CEO, Hockey India League welcoming the Chief Guest for the evening, Hon’ble Chief Minister of Odisha, Shri Naveen Patnaik who declared the opening of the 3rd edition of the prestigious League. This was followed by Dr. Narinder Batra, Chairman, Hockey India League, presenting a memento to the Hon’ble Chief Guest.

The opening ceremony then witnessed a laser show followed by beautiful dance performances by Ollywood actors – Sabyasachi and Archita which left the audience mesmerized and shouting for more. The emcee for the evening was the dazzling Perizaad Zorabian who beautifully and seamlessly engaged the audience, ensuring that the League ahead will be as exciting as the opening ceremony.

Speaking during the opening ceremony of HHIL, Dr. Narinder Batra, Chairman, Hockey India League said, “It’s a honor for me today to be standing in front of this enthusiastic crowd who loves Hockey in the same manner as I do. Hockey India League has become a household name today and this boosts us to come out with newer and innovative ways every year. I would like take this opportunity to thank our corporate partners for their support. Here, I would like to wish good luck to all the teams and special wishes for the home team.”

The one month long League saw Kalinga Lancers and Ranchi Rays kick-starting the League with their opening match.
