Jaap Stockmann is like a giant barricade before the goal post: Affan Yousuf
New Delhi, 4 January 2015: Infused with excitement for the upcoming Hero Hockey India League 2015 and his second innings in the League after debuting in the HHIL 2014, Jaypee Punjab Warrior’s, Affan Yousuf is certain that the team will successfully claim the title of the ‘third’ edition of Hero Hockey India League.
Making his first appearance in the Hero Hockey India League in 2014 as a part of the Jaypee Punjab Warrior’s squad last year, Affan Yousuf with a total of 4 goals to his credit was amongst the top ‘field goal scorers’ for his team. He also earned one ‘Man of the Match’ title during the HHIL 2014.
Speaking on the upcoming Hero Hockey India League 2015, Affan Yousuf said, “It is quite evident that the team has improved its game immensely, as compared to the last two seasons of the HHIL. We topped the League Phase of the Hero Hockey India League in 2014 and gave a tough fight to Delhi Waveriders in the finals by playing a 3-3 draw, but failed to claim the title as we lost in the penalty shootouts. This year, the team is in no mood to leave any stone unturned and will try to win the HHIL 2015 title. I am eagerly waiting to play alongside Jamie Dwyer, SV Sunil and Dharamvir Singh at the forward line and support them throughout to create as many opportunities as possible.”
Confident of the team’s strong line-up, he further added, “The players in our team are of a stature which many aspiring players look up to and even idolise them. With the likes of Jamie Dwyer, SV Sunil and Dharamvir Singh at the forward line, Lucas Rey at the midfield, Sandeep Singh and Christopher Ciriello at the defence position and last but not the least, the ‘great wall’, Jaap Stockmann at the goal post, our opponents will have to strive and struggle really hard to make a breakthrough.”
The 3rd edition of the Hero Hockey India League will start from the 22nd January 2015. The opening day of the League will witness Kalinga Lancers taking on Ranchi Rays in Bhubaneswar.
Hero Hockey India League will be telecasted LIVE on Star Sports.
