New Delhi, 29 December 2014: As the 3rd edition of Hero Hockey India League is all set to start from 22nd January 2015, all the six participating teams are gearing up to put their strategies in place and take aim at the title. With a line-up of some of the world’s finest and extremely talented players, Uttar Pradesh Wizards will also be boasting of India’s best goalkeeper P R Sreejesh in the team and will be banking on the strong man safeguarding their net in the month-long tournament.
With several excellent performances under the bar in the last couple of years, Vice-Captain of the Indian Men Hockey Team, Sreejesh has rightly gone ahead to win some of the prestigious awards in goalkeeping, earning himself the name of India’s most reliable and one of the best goalie of the world. The 26-year-old has been in a stupendous form this year, steering India to an Asian Games Gold at Incheon and a silver medal finish at the Commonwealth Games. He was also honoured as the ‘Best Goalkeeper of the Tournament’ in the just concluded Hero Men’s Champions Trophy 2014.
Speaking on his role and responsibilities in a new team, P R Sreejesh said, “Hero Hockey India League has been an excellent platform to sharpen our skills and tactics. Playing with the best players from all over the world, you realise where you stand and where you aim to be. One learns and unlearns a lot while playing such tournaments. This year it will be a treat for me as I will watch from the other end players like Eddie Ockenden, Jeroen Hertzberger, David Alegre, Shea McAleese fighting it out against the opponents and trying to take UP Wizards up the points table. I will aim at giving my best to help my team to reach for the title and living up to the expectations of all.”
The 3rd edition of the Hero Hockey India League will start from the 22nd January 2015. The opening day of the League will witness Kalinga Lancers taking on Ranchi Rays in Bhubaneswar.
Hero Hockey India League will be telecasted LIVE on Star Sports.
