New Delhi, 21 December 2014: Post being bagged by the new team – Dabang Mumbai – for a whopping $78,000, Matthew Swann is all keyed up and is eagerly waiting for the Hero Hockey India League 2015 to kick start. Emerging as the second costliest player of the impending tournament, the Australian defender is geared up to don the role of a midfielder in the Dabang Mumbai squad.
Displaying marvellous game-play in the 1st but unfortunately missing on the second edition of the League because of injury, Swann will be looking at showcasing his play in the upcoming 3rd edition and drawing attention of the hockey pundits from world over. Knowing that his team is new with a all new franchise on board, he is aware that his team can be the surprise element in the League as, while the opponents would not be aware of their team play, the edge that Dabang Mumbai would have is the fact that they have seen the rest of the teams performing in the last edition which gives them an understanding to draw their strategies accordingly.
Sounding all eager for the upcoming tournament, Matthew Swann said, “This will be my second appearance in the Hero Hockey India League and I am very excited for it. The League will provide me with a priceless opportunity to play alongside some of the best hockey players of the world like Tom Boon, who is currently the most complete hockey player and the young Harmanpreet Singh of India, who has been doing wonders in the Indian Junior Team recently. Also the team has the experience of Glen Turner, Nick Catlin, Floris Evers, Arjun Halappa, David Harte to name a few which will add the much required strength to our entire line-up. We have names to which the World of hockey reckons with and I am sure we will create the much required upset in the upcoming edition.”
The third season of the Hero Hockey India League will commence on 22nd January 2015, with the first match scheduled to be played between Kalinga Lancers and Ranchi Rays, at the Kalinga Stadium, Bhubaneswar. The League will be telecasted LIVE on Star Sports, the official broadcasters for Hero Hockey India League.
